The parts that complete the loss of teeth, gingiva, alveolar bone and surrounding tissue with physical elements are called “dental prosthesis”. The missing element can sometimes be a single tooth or tooth fragment, or sometimes a large part of the jaw. Prostheses are the objects that are put in place of the parts of our body that do not fully perform their minus or function. In cases where preventive dentistry cannot be fully applied, prosthesis can be considered as a last resort. As a result of not treating gum diseases, tooth and bone loss occurs, in these cases dental prostheses can be used. It can also be used in cases where the prosthetic tooth is very decayed and the filling is insufficient.

Removable Prosthesis

We can think of it as an artificial device that can be inserted and removed by the patient and replaces missing teeth. Removable prostheses are applied in cases where the abutment teeth cannot bear the load, in cases where there is a large missing tooth, or when there are missing tooth areas that do not end with a tooth, or when there is no tooth in the mouth.

Removable Section Prosthesis

They are dental and tissue supported prosthetic applications. For tooth support, the tips called crochet come to the part of the tooth under the convex area close to the gingiva, and retention is provided. The tissue surface on which the prosthesis sits provides tissue support. Thus, the force is distributed to the tooth and tissue.

Total Prosthesis

If there is no tooth to be taken as an abutment in the mouth, force transmission, support and retention are provided by sitting on the tissue surface of the prosthesis. Fully tissue supported prosthetic applications are called total prosthesis.

Fixed Prostheses

It is a type of prosthesis formed by gluing the structures prepared on the models obtained from the measurements taken after the preparation made on the tooth, adapting to the mouth, and sticking it on the tooth in a fixed manner. Metal alloys, full ceramic materials and zirconium are generally used in the infrastructure of ceramic materials in prosthesis.
